The Once A Duck podcast was created with the goal to connect University of Oregon students, athletes and fans across all eras to celebrate our favorite Ducks and Duck moments. To reflect this, our two hosts provide two very unique and entrenched perspectives:
Former Ducks offensive lineman Nick Cody graduated from the UofO with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2013 and started in 20 games during the Chip Kelly era of Duck football. As a nationally recruited 4-star prospect with 30+ scholarship offers, Nick joined the Ducks team in 2008 and redshirted during the final season of Mike Bellotti’s head coaching tenure. During his time at Oregon, the Ducks went 56-10 overall and went to four-straight BCS Bowl games. Since walking away from football in 2013 after attempting to play in the CFL, Nick now lives and works in the Seattle area but still proudly wears green & yellow almost daily in the face of Husky antagonism.
Current University of Oregon student-journalist Sam Tidrick-Schmidt already brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills in regards to covering Ducks athletics. As a former intern for sports radio station 95.3 The Score, Sam has already hit the ground running in the world of sports media. He comes to the Once A Duck podcast having already produced and hosted live radio broadcasts in Eugene and he’s already conducted interviews with most of the coaches in the Pac12 conference. Growing up as a lifelong Duck fan, he offers a very fresh, educated and current perspective that comes directly from the student section in Autzen and the Pit Crew in Matthew Knight Arena.
With their combined knowledge and passion, Nick & Sam hope to bring all generations of the Duck family together to enjoy and celebrate us all being #OnceADuck! Be sure to check out our first episode on SoundCloud when it releases at noon today!
